Blogging A to Z: Elizabeth (An Acrostic Poem)

Emotions flow through me
Like the wind blowing through trees
Is that metaphor too stupid?
Zigzagging through
A minefield of thoughts
Because I thought a poem would be fun
Eliminating a day of this challenge because
Thoughts of words that being with E for a post were emotions and elements
However, at least this post was short.

And that, my friends, is an acrostic poem. I really couldn't think of anything else to do and my name begins with the letter E. Also, we needed a bit of lightness after D.

Move Forward

I wrote some poetry, as that seems to be all I'm good for at the moment. I'll be back tomorrow with some writing tips, possibly on how to write through all of this, but... this is all I have right now. I hope you enjoy.

Move Forward
As I wake in my bed
Wondering if it was a dream
Checking Twitter and realizing no
It's not a dream.

This is our reality.

I want to give into despair but
Wanting a fight
Wanting to give up hope but
Wanting some strength
Wanting to give up, start over but
We have to move forward.

Move forward, one foot in front of the other,
Don't give up, not yet, for it's not over
Question what's next, what can you do
Don't give into your fear,
Your grief,
Your anger,
Your despair.

Just move forward, for that's all we can
Do in the end.

Poetry Corner

Chasing Inspiration

She is looking down on the blank page
Then peeps towards a book of words
Seeing her thoughts are so close
Her notions on butterfly wings.

Inspiration, for just a moment
Her pen flies across a page
Then a page flutters away,
Sighs seep from her lips.

Notes written down,
Locked up without keys
Only small ideas, for she is
Afraid to give a dream a voice.

Deficient hesitation, she will return
On the way to what she knows best,
For she is simply pursuing inspiration
A consequence of a broken butterfly net.

Poetry

I'm going to try something out, don't know how long it'll continue, but I'll try to keep it up.  Some background first.

Around 2005/2006, I took some creative writing classes and found that I really liked poetry.  I like poetry enough to consider becoming a full time poet instead of writing novels.  However, novels won out but I love the way that poetry makes us feel.  There's music in the words of poetry, considering that is our music in the end, and I like writing it.  With that short background, every Tuesday (until I forget) is going to be Poetry Corner or Poet Tuesday or something catchy.  I'll come up with an official title later.  For now, have some poetry.

Winter
At the start, it is just
A whisper against bare trees
Their skeleton arms reaching up
To skies of purple light.
It is easy to sleep then
With the whisper lulling again
Windows, kissing them softly.
As it passes, the light dies until
A long night with a long vigil
The fires burning bright while
The faithful dance in celebration.
It is harder to sleep then
Whispers turning into screaming rattles
Where every small bump turns into nightmares.
And it passes with
A new day, each colder than the one before.
The cold breaks
The south wind blows
It is easier to sleep again
With new buds popping out of snow
With the promise of rebirth
At the start, it is just.
